A tribute to James Ledward

Brighton and Hove Green Party would like to pay tribute to GScene editor James Ledward, who died this morning (3rd October) after a short illness.

Councillor Phélim Mac Caffety, Convenor of the Green Group of councillors said:

“We are very sorry to hear the desperately sad news of the death of James Ledward. Only a few nights ago we noticed James’ untypical absence at the Rainbow Fund awards. His death marks the loss of a huge champion for the LGBTIQA+ community and he will be so sadly missed.

“To the end, James was a passionate supporter of the fight for LGBTIQA+ rights and repeatedly and tirelessly he fought for equality. We are of course thankful for all his work and dedication. His work as editor of GScene magazine saw him repeatedly go to considerable efforts to keep politicians, charity leaders, the police and NHS accountable to the community itself.

“On behalf of the Green Group of Councillors our thoughts are with James’ husband Besi, his family and friends at this difficult time.”

Benedict Allbrooke, Chair of Brighton and Hove Green Party said:

“On behalf of Brighton and Hove Green Party I would like to pay tribute to James, an incredible advocate and critical friend to our party.

His death is a huge loss to the city, and we send our regards to his family and friends at this difficult time.”
