“I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to every person who voted for me and the Green Party in Hove & Portslade on Thursday, and put your faith in Greener, Kinder politics.”

Thank you from Sophie 6 July 2024

I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to every person who voted for me and the Green Party in Hove & Portslade on Thursday, and put your faith in Greener, Kinder politics.

The Green Party have delivered 4 strong MPs to Westminster and gained over 1.8million votes across England and Wales, around 7.2% of the overall vote. I’m so proud that we’re up 9.9% here in Hove & Portslade to take a decisive second place with 14.3%.

I hope that this change of government and surge in Green Party support will bring us better education, health and nature policies for us and our children’s future.

Thank you for being part of Team Green all across the UK! Are you a member? If you are inspired to take part and raise up MPs with policies for real hope and real change join.greenparty.org.uk/

And do come to a local meeting or social event soon – it would be great to meet you!

With warmest best wishes,

Sophie

Background

June 2024: Sophie is a local working mum with two children.

Sophie cares deeply about building a fairer, more sustainable future for everybody and believes we need more Green voices in Westminster. If elected, she will listen to local voters and work hard for residents of Hove and Portslade.

Sophie says: I stand for climate justice and social justice. My vision is for a fairer, greener, kinder country.

I stand for climate justice and social justice. My vision is for a fairer, greener, kinder country

  • Protecting our environment, land, animals and people
  • Challenging privilege, ending discrimination and keeping international friendships
  • Liberating our working hours and creativity
  • Celebrating the value of kindness
  • Helping to deliver a good quality of life for all.

My background is in television production, but I now work to support people in advertising in responding to the climate crisis. I have volunteered widely including:

  • As a therapeutic counsellor, currently working for the Climate Psychology Alliance, I support people with their emotions around the environment and nature emergency
  • I help build local communities through a Transition Town and organising local street parties
  • I have been an NHS Sussex breastfeeding peer supporter and chair of a local school Parent Teacher Association.

I previously stood for Greens in the 2023 local elections and am ready to stand to be an MP candidate now. I will represent what you believe in – and I would love to be another strong Green voice in Westminster.
