A Green Councillor Spokesperson said:
“Greens are deeply concerned for the city’s residents, following the announcement of strike action by the GMB Trade Union against the Council’s Labour Party Leadership. Residents stand to be severely affected by any disruption to our essential waste services.
“It is now clear that there has been a breakdown in industrial relations between Labour and the GMB. We urge both sides to continue to try and resolve this, and to urgently address allegations of bullying and anti-trade union behaviour.
“We recognise that the Council has a duty to safeguard its staff where allegations of bullying have been made. Labour must now tell the city how they plan to draw this dispute to a close, without putting the welfare of staff at risk.”
