Hanover gets re-connected thanks to councillor’s intervention

A public phone box in Grove Street has been brought back into service thanks to a local councillor taking up the issue on behalf of residents.

The line had been dead for months, the box had become filthy and it was thought to be a focus for drug-dealing, when Hanover & Elm Grove residents drew it to the attention of their local Green councillor Dick Page.

Cllr Page said: “After much chasing of BT, they finally cleaned it up, and it is now accepting cash as well as cards.” He added: “By no means do all of us have a mobile phone 24/7, so public phones remain essential.”
