Alex Phillips biography
Alex Phillips, 24, is currently the youngest councillor on Brighton & Hove City Council.
Alex joined the Green Party in February 2003. Since then, she has held positions within the Young Greens including International Liaisons Officer and Female Co-Chair.
She is an experienced campaigner, with a keen interest in equalities, trade and peace issues. Alex has a degree in French Studies from the University of London Institute in Paris, and has worked for health and legal businesses, an international human rights charity, and in the European Parliament.
Alex is Brighton & Hove Green Party’s co-ordinator for local General Election campaigns, and a trustee of Latitude Safe Space, a charity providing safe accommodation for homeless women in the city.
Alex was elected to the city council in a by-election in July 2009 following the resignation of Tory councillor Paul Lainchbury, and sits on the Council’s Children & Young People’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
