Having previously represented Regency ward, Sven contested and was elected in May 2011 to represent Hollingdean & Stanmer ward, where he lives.
Apart from his council roles, Sven looks after his young daughter and on the infrequent occasions that time allows it, he tries to earn some money from his work as a self-employed ecology consultant.
He is an active Co-operative member, and trade unionist.
Sven relaxes by reading, learning Spanish and walking in the country and he has a guitar gathering dust in the corner.
